WARNING - Recruiters predict Christmas temporary labour shortage

Almost seven in 10 recruiters anticipate a shortage in temporary agency labour over Christmas, according to research from de Poel, a procurer of temporary labour agency.

The de Poel predicts that 29% more temporary workers will be used in the run up to Christmas alone, while 42% of recruiters expect a lack of available logistics sector temporary workers and 24% predict a dearth of care workers.

Nick Warburton from Completely Care commented "We have certainly noticed a drop in the number of new Care staff registering for temporary work and this could certainly have a detrimental effect over the Christmas period on the Care sector, therefore we have been advising all clients that if you require cover over the Christmas period, book any cover required as soon as feasible possible in order to guarantee supply and thankfully, all be it we have seen a drop in the number of  new candidate registering for temporary work, thanks to our fantastic staff retention, we still have a very large pool of quality staff available to support our clients over this busy period".
